As promised, here is the post finally detailing the story of our engagement :) I am excited to share it with all of you bloggers...not to mention all my family and friends that also read this blog!
I flew into INDY on Friday night, and as far as I knew the only plans we had for the weekend were to go to the Skillet and TobyMac concert we had tickets for. I had no idea that the boy had a trick up his sleeve! He totally surprised me and it was wonderful!! I should start by saying that 7 Pillars is in Peru, Indiana. It is beautiful and almost every time I visit we go there just to walk around and take pictures. It really is beautiful to see all the seasons change and reflect off the river. It is one of my favorite places.
Our morning started out late (thank goodness, because we got home from the airport late). Stephen has been up and eaten breakfast before I woke up and showered to get ready. Once I had spent an appropriate amount of time on my hair and makeup, I went downstairs and then we left shortly after a brief conversation with is parents. It was pretty late in the morning, and we were going to Taco Johns because I had said I wanted to eat there since it is a chain that does not exist in Florida. After lunch we headed to Hallmark to get his niece Hadley a birthday card and well, because I wanted to compare stores too. No offense Peru Hallmark, but Fleming Island Hallmark is waaaay better...sorry I am biased.
After our adventure at Taco Johns and Hallmark we headed to 7 Pillars. Granted, we have gone there before so I did not think anything was strange by his request to go there. However, the disgust he showed when other people were there made me wonder what was going on in his head. We parked and walked down by the water and the other family that was there left shortly after we arrived. It was kind of chilly and I had left my jacket in the car, but Stephen had a hoodie on. After walking and talking for a normal amount of time I asked him if he was ready to go. Note: I was slightly aggravated that he hadn't offered to let me wear his hoodie, but now I know that the ring was in his pocket...He said he wasn't ready to go and that he had to do something first. From that moment on, I am not 100% sure what happened. What I do know is that: Stephen was down on one knee telling me how he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and then I said "YES!"
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
