Hi, remember me?

Hi, remember me? I am that girl who never posts anymore but still has lots to say! I am back (hopefully) and ready to fire away with posts!

I am sorry that it's been so long since I last posted. Between VBS at church and having a friend from Florida staying with us for 9 days-life has been busy! I am sure you can all understand...right?

Well, without further adieu: a weekend update from July! Ha, better late than never!?

Just starting out with some pictures from SKY VBS at church. We were so blessed by the kids in our "crew". I hope that each one of them grew closer to the Lord and learned they way he loves them-no matter what!

Friday evening we headed to Indianapolis to pick up Vickie. It was a long, boring drive for me. Sometimes I think I might be worse than a kid in the car...I just get antsy! We did drive through some MUCH needed rain, so that was nice! We got back to the house late and everyone was so tired. Vickie did eat dinner at Culver's though so she was introduced to the Mid-West well!

Saturday we had a great day at the farmers market and a local auction. I had never been to an auction before, except at church last year (which I loved) so this was a new experience. It was actually Vickie's idea and I am so glad we followed through. I scored the above milk glass vases and lantern for $10. That's a deal in my book!

Saturday night we went out to eat with some friends of mine from work. We had a great dinner at Streamliner and then went to Mel's house and watched the kids play for awhile. Vickie had her first tenderloin sandwich (a Mid-West staple) and liked it! We did leave and head home early because I started feeling really sick. It hit me the next day-must have caught something from one of the kids at VBS!

Louie was my snuggle buddy and stayed by my side while sick. I just love that pup SO much!
Sunday after church we spent the afternoon at the historical museum for our town. It was actually very fun and interesting. The museum is open at odd or inconvenient hours in my opinion, so I was thrilled to be able to enjoy it. After a couple hours immersed in history we headed to Peru for some ice cream. It's the best ice cream, and their turtle sundae is something to write home about. Trust me!

I have many more pictures to share from Vickie's visit to Indiana, plus what we have been up to over the past couple of weeks. I do hope to have those posts ready and posted soon. Stick with me, I promise I am working on it!

Oh, and Friday is my birthday. The big 2-6. Should I do something special on the blog for that? Perhaps 26 facts you never cared to know about yours truly?

Weekend Wrap-Up

I feel the need to pat myself on that back for actually getting this weekend wrap-up typed and published before Friday! Life just gets so busy sometimes that it's hard to sit down and get the details out, you know?

We were both really looking forward to this weekend and the downtime that came with it. The past couple of weekends have been busy with home improvement projects and/or family in town...which we love, but is exhausting! My number one goal for this weekend was to sleep in. Did I? You betcha I did, and it was LOVELY! We stayed in bed on Saturday until around 10 just being lazy...I loved it. Once we got up we started getting ready for a different kind of shopping adventure and had a little photo shoot:

Back story: We are travelling to Florida in 19 days AND we are taking Louie with us. Our vet said that if he handled shorter car rides that he would be fine on a longer one. We decided to take a trip to Fort Wayne (about 45 min away) with Louie in tow as a test. I was excited to spend the day with him! We ended up taking him to the pet store and also Honda because we needed to stop by there. He was such a trooper and handled the trip so well!

He really was so good in the car and stayed right on my lap the entire time we were driving. The only time we were in the car and not driving was when we were eating Chick-Fil-A in the parking lot because it was way too cold to eat outside anywhere...Louie was just begging for french fries then :) He may have gotten a couple...

He was funny shopping at the pet store, also. He seemed totally unbothered by all the other animals and was fine as long as I stayed right by him. At one point I walked away from the cart and he jumped out after me. Woops!

Louie was totally spoiled on this trip. That's okay though, because he deserves it!

After lunch and the pet store, we needed to stop at Honda about the floor mats they ordered for our vehicle. Basically, they don't fit.at.all! It took quite awhile but they ended up ordering us new ones and washing the car. I love getting free car washes!

Saturday night we went to a game night at a co-workers house and had a great time. Their house was so beautiful and I got some great decorating ideas, too. Actually, I was intrigued by all the maps she has used to decorate their house and I might have ordered an antique map of the county we live in...by the time we got home that night, ha! Fun times!

Sunday we went to church and then did some things at the house and relaxed. It is tough to stay on top of ever thing...owning a house means there is always something to do. That is good usually, but not so good when we want to relax. Agree? It's okay...only 19 days until vacation in Florida. We will relax then at some point!

Now I will leave you with one super cute picture of Louie and one of his treats we picked for him while shopping Saturday. I think he face screams "don't you dare touch my rawhide, Mom!"

Well folks, that's the low down on our weekend. Hope you had a great one!

baby shower for Kathy...

Last week I had the honor of throwing a little baby shower for a co-worker and sweet friend of mine, Kathy. Kathy is pregnant with her second child, but her first bundle of BOY! Did you like that play on words right there? Yes? Good! Okay...back to the party...

We had a simple dinner at The Boathouse in Winona Lake and really enjoyed the evening together. It was just a blessing to watch Kathy as she opened all the precious baby gifts. She even brought her daughter with her; Kaylee. Kaylee is 3 and a bundle of energy. She is SO excited about having a "baby budder" as she says...it is just too cute!

Here is the evening in pictures:

I will admit that I was pretty proud of these darling cupcakes. I decided to make chocolate cake because that is one thing that Kathy has been craving with this pregnancy. Pair moist chocolate cake with vanilla bean butter cream frosting and you have a hot. Add super cute blue baby rattles made by my friend Brooke, and we have a home run folks. They turned out super cute and tasty, too!

I just love the details on wrapping for little babies. Everything is so cute!

Meet Kaylee, friend. She is a spitting image of her momma and so excited to be a big sister. She was thrilled to open presents for her baby brother and show them all to us. The fact that she had been eying the cupcakes and her Mom told her she could have one after she opened all the gifts may have had something to do with it.

Mel from work was so sweet and brought a little gift for Kaylee so she did not feel left out with all the attention and gifts that her brother was getting. She opened her gift and turned into the Big Sister Princess!

Mom crowning the Princess! :)

She finally got to eat a cupcake! She was so patient and ready to dig in...that she did!

Looks like she enjoyed it, don't you agree?

Kaylee and Kathy preggo belly picture!

This picture is so sweet, it just makes my heart happy! How can you not smile looking at this big sister giving her baby brother kisses?!

The happy and glowing Momma-to-be!

The evening ended with a lovely sunset over Winona Lake.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this night special for Kathy, Kaylee and the baby boy (whose name I know but it is a secret from her family, so I will not disclose that info...it is super cute though!) Kathy, we all hope that you continue to enjoy the end of your pregnancy and that you call us if you need anything at all. We are all here for you and your family!
