Weekend in Pictures...LOTS of pictures!

Happy Monday y'all!

First off, lets talk about FRIDAY. We didn't have anything really planned, which was good because when I got home from work I really didn't feel too well. My ankles were both swollen and sore so I ended up taking a nap and drinking lots of water. I had some really, really salty teriyaki for lunch so that's what I am blaming the swollenness/bloat on. Anyways...after a nice nap I actually felt better and we went for a nice bike ride through town. I love riding our bikes and looking at the pretty houses!
Oh, we also came home to some beautiful blooms! You know I love flowers! Our pansies are so vibrant...I just love them! And then the zinnia's too-beautiful! Let's not forget our back yard bunny friend! I actually snapped a picture of him, though it is a little blurry because he was in motion. Those rabbits are FAST!

Saturday morning started off with puppy cuddles and belly rubs-Louie's favorite! After breakfast we got right to work: laundry, cutting the grass, some craft projects for me-including finishing the wreath I talked about last week, replanting some plants, and fertilizing the plants! After all that work it was pretty hot so we blew up the redneck pool and took a swim! I know it's just a little inflatable pool and I bet our neighbors don't love it, but I do. It is so nice to be able to cool off and soak up some sun. Even Louie likes the pool and floating on the raft...which I just think is the cutest thing EVER. Have I mentioned how much we love him? Well, it's an intense amount! In the afternoon I finished a craft project-painting an old cookie sheet to use as a tray on the front porch. I used spray paint that I had on hand so we didn't have to go to the store. It was so easy and I love the outcome. Can't beat that! In the evening we washed up to meet Stephen's family and his parents for dinner honoring his Dad for Father's Day. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant of his choice and then went to Wal-Mart for some more solar garden lights (they were on sale and I wanted to add a few more around the house). Go me because we went for lights and that is all we bought! I don't know if it's just me or what, but that RARELY happens. ALSO, we walked through the garden center and looked at all the pretty flowers without buying any. Another victory!

Sunday after church we picked Louie up from the house and headed to Stephen's parents house for a Father's Day cook-out. Louie was excited to be in the car, he really likes car rides! However, we took country roads to his parents house and Louie got carsick-let me just say eww! Thankfully he seemed to feel better and was okay most of the time we were there! After filling our bellies we headed back to our house hoping to soak up some sunshine in the afternoon. The pool had been full since Friday evening, so the water was nice and warm...quite the contrast to the freezing temperature it could have been! I also got to FaceTime with my Mom, Dad and Grandma so that was special. I must say, I love FaceTime! Our nieces came over in the afternoon/evening and we had a blast with them. They impressed me with how many games they could come up with in such a tiny pool, and I think they loved it! Once they were water logged we ate mac-n-cheese on the porch and painted little finger nails-so much fun!

We also finished another craft project on Sunday. We had an old picture frame that had been turned into a dry erase board in the kitchen where we either post the menu for the week, write down things we need from the store, or jot down sweet notes to each other....well, I was tired of the dry erase board and wanted a chalkboard. A left over bottle of spray paint and an hour later...that's what we had. I love it! It sits in the kitchen above where we hang keys, jackets, cameras and purses. Fun!

...I almost forgot that we replanted our Basil into a mason jar, too. I like it's new look!

In the evening we relaxed on the porch...even Louie was enjoying the cool summer night. Love it!

And that was our weekend! Told you it was a lot of pictures! We hope you had a great weekend too, and a great Monday!

Did you do anything special for Father's Day?

Lots of stuff crammed into one post...that's how we roll!

First of all, I cannot believe it is already Wednesday? I just love having Monday's off thus making this week a 4 day work week. Can we please petition for this to be a weekly occurrence? That would be GREAT!

Let's start with last Friday. I had plan of cooking dinner and painting at home but The Mr. wanted to go out for an impromptu date night. How could I say no? I promptly changed from the jeans and a hoodie that I wore to work to something a little cuter and we set out. Let me tell you...we love pizza. Who doesn't, right!?! We have eaten at a little pizzeria a couple times and Friday it was perfect for us! Greek's has daily specials that are always a great deal, so we leave with happy bellies and wallets. Score!

After filling our bellies with their delicious house  pizza (feta cheese, meatballs and black olives) we decided to make another stop. Right next door there is a very cute ice cream parlor with tons of flavors. We had discussed going there while we were waiting on our pizza and mentioned that we need to make sure they accept credit/debit cards, because-let's be honest...neither of us carries cash. Well, we walked over and totally forgot about checking on this detail. After tasting and picking our flavors the cones were scooped and in hand. Que awkward moment between sweet high school girl and my husband. They do NOT take credit/debit cards. Panic hits. Thankfully they do take personal checks and I had my checkbook with me. This may be the first time I have ever written a check for $5 or for ice cream. Thank goodness it worked out though! I have no idea what we would have done...especially since I had already eaten!

Hello deliciousness-yellow cake batter ice cream with chocolate fudge icing and sprinkles!

After that little adventure we were headed to get everything we needed for kabob making on Saturday. I also stopped in the garden center at Martin's to take a look at their beautiful hanging flowers baskets. I want some so bad, but I need to wait until we can put them up at the house since we have nowhere to hang them at the apartment. This whole process of buying a house is really making me learn something about patience.

Saturday we were headed to The Mr.'s parents house to work on our China cabinet (hooray) and grill some meat since it was relatively nice outside! They live about an hour from our apartment, but on Saturday we took a different route which ended up taking longer. We were driving through the country and on roads I have never seen before-it was beautiful! We came across one covered bridge:

Continuing the trek and enjoying some Diet Snapple...

Once we made it to their house we started working on the cabinet and getting the kabobs ready for their grill debut. I am not sure why, but I have been craving some grilled steak kabobs. I think they just scream summer to me, so I like that. None of us had ever grilled them before we it was kind of a test run. They looked beautiful and delicious though; I loved the colors!

Work on the cabinet continued...

By the end of the day Saturday, we had gotten both the top and bottom stained with a dark Walnut stain. It really is looking good! Next step should take place in a week or so once the stain has ample time to dry. It looks like we will finish this project before we move into our new house, so it can make the move with us! You have no idea how excited I am!

Sunday I woke up not feeling great. We made it to church and then went out to lunch with my BIL and SIL (Greg & Robin), and Robin's Mom before getting a little shopping in. We got a great deal on a lamp set at Bed Bath & Beyond AND had a 20% off coupon too. I would show you a picture, but the lamps are staying in the box until after the move...so, just like me-you will have to wait!

When we were driving home from shopping and lunch, storms started to roll in. Our county was actually under a tornado watch/warning. I am not sure which because we heard both. We passed an Amish horse and buggy:

and then we swung by the house for a picture. I just love this place and cannot wait to move in. I dream about it all the time everyday.

Monday I woke up feeling even worse than Sunday. I was so thankful to have Memorial Day off work and just lay on the couch. I could hear my Mom and my Grandma telling me to drink lots and lots of water since I was sick...that is just what I did. Stephen joked about hooking a hose up so he would not have to run and refill my cup every 10 min. Oh, and I also took 3 bubble baths. That's my idea of productivity! :)

Speaking of productivity...I did manage to finish the painting I worked on last week. I had not planned on hanging it until we were moved, but I was just itching to see what the room would look like with it completed. The pillows I ordered from Target came via UPS and the painting was complete...so I had to. AND, I LOVE IT!! Let me know what you think!

Please ignore all the paints that are on the coffee table. I have started another painting so they will remain there until the next one is complete!

We hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend and has a great week. See you later with more updates!
