Friday was New Year's Eve and a vacation day for me :) [insert happy dance here] We got to sleep in on Friday, which I had been looking forward to all.week.long! As luck would have it-I woke up bright and early and had to force myself to go back to sleep! It was a successful struggle. We stayed in bed until around 10:30am. When we got up it was time to cook!
We started cooking in the kitchen and had a delicious New Year's Eve meal complete with bacon and Cinnamon pancakes, AND we got to use our brand new griddle that was given to us as a wedding gift! I think that makes for a good morning! After breakfast and a couple episodes of "Friends" I started cleaning the house. It was important to me to start the new year out with a clean and organized house. I am so grateful for my wonderful hubby who helped me the entire time and did not complain once about the smell of cleaning products. I was also grateful for my little brother Hunter who ran to the store to get some toilet bowl cleaner for me. I could not have cleaned the bathroom without that, thanks you guys!!
We left the apartment with some errands to run and lunch on the agenda. Hunter loves Long John Silver's and there are none in Florida. We actually brought LJS from IN to FL for my Mom when we drove down last week for Christmas...crazy, I know. Anyways, per Hunter's request we had to eat there before he went home. Even though none of us were really hungry after our big breakfast we headed straight there. Hunter and The Mr. indulged in fried fish and me chicken [I do not eat fish]. We had so fun and an impromptu photo shoot while we were waiting on our food:
After lunch we had plans to go bowling with our 2 older nieces. We picked the girls up and headed to the bowling alley in the closest town. It was...well, a little iffy. We bowled one game there and then decided to go to a bigger town that had a bowling alley with more than 4 lanes. When we got to alley #2 we were the only ones there! It was so nice to be in a nice, big bowling alley and have the entire place to ourselves. People started slowly arriving, but we still had plenty of space and the girls had tons of fun! Here are some pictures to prove it:

Ainsley developed a fun game of trying to get Hunter's hat, and I developed a game of trying to catch her in mid-air. Score! |
When our bowling extravaganza ended we headed back to the girl's house for a spaghetti dinner and then a night of games at their house. The Mr.'s parents were there too and it was nice to eat together and just enjoy every ones company. It was also nice to laugh as people danced to "Just Dance" on the Wii. Seriously, my arms is still sore...
We headed home around 11, and were comfy in pajamas on our couch with sparkling grape juice in hand in time to watch the ball drop. We sealed the night with a New Year's kiss and headed to bed :) It really was a great New Year's!

No Long John Silver's in Florida? Jacksonville must be a strange area because they're down here in the central Florida.
Well, there used to be on in the town we lived in-but it closed down. My brother thinks there is one somewhere in Jax, maybe Jax beach? Either way-it is not close to them!
It looks as though you all had a great new years, bowling, games, and family are a great way to have spent it! Too funny about LJS, glad Hunter was able to have some before going back to FL.
