Weekend in Pictures...LOTS of pictures!

Happy Monday y'all!

First off, lets talk about FRIDAY. We didn't have anything really planned, which was good because when I got home from work I really didn't feel too well. My ankles were both swollen and sore so I ended up taking a nap and drinking lots of water. I had some really, really salty teriyaki for lunch so that's what I am blaming the swollenness/bloat on. Anyways...after a nice nap I actually felt better and we went for a nice bike ride through town. I love riding our bikes and looking at the pretty houses!
Oh, we also came home to some beautiful blooms! You know I love flowers! Our pansies are so vibrant...I just love them! And then the zinnia's too-beautiful! Let's not forget our back yard bunny friend! I actually snapped a picture of him, though it is a little blurry because he was in motion. Those rabbits are FAST!

Saturday morning started off with puppy cuddles and belly rubs-Louie's favorite! After breakfast we got right to work: laundry, cutting the grass, some craft projects for me-including finishing the wreath I talked about last week, replanting some plants, and fertilizing the plants! After all that work it was pretty hot so we blew up the redneck pool and took a swim! I know it's just a little inflatable pool and I bet our neighbors don't love it, but I do. It is so nice to be able to cool off and soak up some sun. Even Louie likes the pool and floating on the raft...which I just think is the cutest thing EVER. Have I mentioned how much we love him? Well, it's an intense amount! In the afternoon I finished a craft project-painting an old cookie sheet to use as a tray on the front porch. I used spray paint that I had on hand so we didn't have to go to the store. It was so easy and I love the outcome. Can't beat that! In the evening we washed up to meet Stephen's family and his parents for dinner honoring his Dad for Father's Day. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant of his choice and then went to Wal-Mart for some more solar garden lights (they were on sale and I wanted to add a few more around the house). Go me because we went for lights and that is all we bought! I don't know if it's just me or what, but that RARELY happens. ALSO, we walked through the garden center and looked at all the pretty flowers without buying any. Another victory!

Sunday after church we picked Louie up from the house and headed to Stephen's parents house for a Father's Day cook-out. Louie was excited to be in the car, he really likes car rides! However, we took country roads to his parents house and Louie got carsick-let me just say eww! Thankfully he seemed to feel better and was okay most of the time we were there! After filling our bellies we headed back to our house hoping to soak up some sunshine in the afternoon. The pool had been full since Friday evening, so the water was nice and warm...quite the contrast to the freezing temperature it could have been! I also got to FaceTime with my Mom, Dad and Grandma so that was special. I must say, I love FaceTime! Our nieces came over in the afternoon/evening and we had a blast with them. They impressed me with how many games they could come up with in such a tiny pool, and I think they loved it! Once they were water logged we ate mac-n-cheese on the porch and painted little finger nails-so much fun!

We also finished another craft project on Sunday. We had an old picture frame that had been turned into a dry erase board in the kitchen where we either post the menu for the week, write down things we need from the store, or jot down sweet notes to each other....well, I was tired of the dry erase board and wanted a chalkboard. A left over bottle of spray paint and an hour later...that's what we had. I love it! It sits in the kitchen above where we hang keys, jackets, cameras and purses. Fun!

...I almost forgot that we replanted our Basil into a mason jar, too. I like it's new look!

In the evening we relaxed on the porch...even Louie was enjoying the cool summer night. Love it!

And that was our weekend! Told you it was a lot of pictures! We hope you had a great weekend too, and a great Monday!

Did you do anything special for Father's Day?

iPhone Photo Dump & Instagram, too!

Everyone is allowed one random post a week, right? In my book (head), that's the way it works...so count this as my mid-week dose of randomness!

How is your week going by the way? We have had a great couple of days, full of work (of course), bike rides, grilling burgers and playing with Louie. The weather has been LOVELY in Northern Indiana!

Here are some pictures from the past week or so on my iPhone. Oh and these are in no particular order:
Flowers from my super sweet husband last Friday at work "just because". Goodness so I love that man!

Chocolate covered strawberries at work from a distributor...oh my these were good! On a side note, last week was the end of our fiscal year so it was a bit stressful and crazy around the office. These made up for it!

We were able to get both bikes in the back of the CRV, yeah! It's good to know that we have a car that can transport them if we want to go ride different trails-there are trails everywhere here!

We picked up some more flowers to plant...are you surprised? You shouldn't be!

Our impromptu date lunch @ Culvers. Note to self: always, ALWAYS order a kids meal. The portions are much smaller (read: I can eat it all) AND it comes with custard. Win!

My new wheels! :)

We have broken out the CGM and our checkbooks so I can use the CGM in effort to lower my A1C from 6.9. Granted, 6.9 is not bad for someone who has had T1D for as long as I have-but I would like it lower should we bring a baby D into the world anytime soon. This picture was taken Sunday morning...apparently I run low overnight. Time to decease my basal rate via my pump!

Rant: CGM sensors are EXPENSIVE. Even with insurance it costs nearly $100 per pop. I think there should be an underground black market for diabetes supplies. Who's with me?
Oh sweet Louie. Is a caption needed? I think not!

Headed to church Sunday morning...good service, good message AND we sang "How Great Thou Art". I wish we could sing that every Sunday. It's a great kick off to my week and always makes me feel like Papa is right there with us singing loudly. I miss him...

I have started calling these our "flamingo flowers"...they remind me of flamingos, which reminds me of Florida and makes my heart happy!

Bike ridin' through the neighborhood...

And the bikes are up for the night...so not only are we getting exercise from riding, but it's a bit of a workout to get the bikes up in the garage. So basically we get a little lower body and upper body workout each time we ride. Win!

Love me some Louie lovin'-such a sweet pup!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Well...it's Monday again. Why does this day always come so fast? Maybe it's because we seem to always have great, fun, busy but productive weekend? Yep, that seems like a good reason so I'm just gonna go with it. Anyways, how was your weekend?

If you have been reading my blog or even looked at it recently, then I bet you could guess what we did this weekend...
LANDSCAPING...again!

Friday night we had our every two weeks dinner and grocery shopping date. We ate at The American Table in Warsaw and then shopped at Aldi's, Big R, Lowe's, Kohl's and Wal-Mart. We were busy and had agenda!

Saturday we were up fairly early and hit the road running. We went back to Wal-mart to pick up bikes that we had been eyeing AND I got a couple more perennials to plant. I think I have a sickness, really. Recently it has become near impossible for me to walk through or even near a garden center without purchasing some plant! After this quick shopping trip (and a lunch date) we loaded the bikes in the back of the CRV and headed home with landscaping on our brain!

Our big project and goal this weekend was the add a flower bed by our front walk (which you will see later in this post) but we also had topsoil and mulch to add to existing beds. Oh, and we bought a new plant hanger thingy so I could hang my newest hanging basket too. Here are some random photos:
This little bed by our mailbox has taken off, it's so pretty!
The newest hanging basket, which is by our back walkway now.
Our newest perennials-I LOVE the coneflowers! Oh, and in the middle of this bed was a big holly bush that we were able to remove on Saturday. It was ugly, so we are glad it is gone. We plan to add something there...just not sure what yet!
See those green plants that look kind of like sea creatures or chi pets? I got those at Lowe's on clearance for $1 AND they are perennials. SO excited about that!
And the front bed...I didn't take a before picture, but just imagine it with grass. Digging up all that grass was a job!
The front bed looking down the walk from our front porch..
And looking at it from the side.

I love what flowers add to our house. This whole landscaping thing started out as an idea to add some curb appeal, but now I am really enjoying it. I can't wait to plant more this coming weekend!

After hours of landscaping we headed to El Mez for dinner...we had planned on grilling but since it was raining we obviously had to go out to eat...right? Ha, that's our excuse anyways! After dinner we went for a very first bike ride on the new wheels. Louie did not go with us because he did not like being in the bike basket:

I'm hoping that we can train him to enjoy it, but who knows if that will happen. We did put him in the basket on Sunday for a little bit too to try and get him used to it. In the meantime, we will be leaving him at home while we ride!

On Sunday we went to church and then grilled lunch at home and ate outside. The weather was so nice on Sunday! After a lazy afternoon and a nap or two we headed out for another bike ride! We snapped some pictures:
North Manchester covered bridge...
See how blue the sky was?!
Riding down our street...
...and using a park bench to take a self timer picture!

All in all, it was a GREAT weekend. I love the landscaping we added and the fact that we can do bike riding around our town now. I will say that my legs are a little sore today though...probably a combination of shoveling, weed pulling and bike riding. And honestly? I kind of like it...being sore isn't always bad!

Oh, 25 days until FLORIDA!

Happy Monday!
