When we made it back to my apartment around lunch time on Friday, we were all exhausted! I did not realize that the parking lot was icey, or maybe I did and was just too tired to react. Anyhow, I stepped out of the car and busted my butt. On ice. In the parking lot. GREAT. All I could do was laugh about it, because really, what else can you do? Luckily nothing was hurt and I was fine. Then something else happened...
I was walking in to the stairs to go up to our 3rd floor apartment when a man greeted me. He did not greet me with a polite 'hello' or anything of the like. It was more like, who are you and where do you live? Umm excuse me sir? He proceeds to tell me that he believes he lives below us and he has been beating on the walls when we make too much noise. Oh yes mister, I have heard you beating while I am blow-drying my hair or vacuuming. Are you serious? Keep in mind, my arms are loaded down with bags from shopping and I had just fallen on ice in the parking lot. I wanted to be at home and in bed...his conversation with me continues. He wants to talk to me and my husband because we are too loud and it distracts him. Let me tell you, Stephen is such a noise maker. We blare our stereo and deliberately beat pots and pans for our own musical pleasure. NOT. I dismiss the gentleman and say that I will tell my husband. I am thinking the conversation is over and I am dismissed to leave...NO. He then tells me that he saw me fall in the parking lot and walks away. Could he have asked if I was okay? YES. Could he have asked if I needed help with my bags? YES. (not that I would have taken him up on that). Anyways, I do believe our downstairs neighbor would be happier in a retirement village or community, since my blow-dryer is clearly too loud and a distraction for him. Sir in apartment 2201, we will try to keep it down!
After the lovely encounter, I was steaming and called Stephen right away. By the time he got home from his shopping I had showered and was almost asleep on the sofa watching It's A Wonderful Life. I was reminded that this is a wonderful life, even when I have to deal with people like our neighbor who make it so hard to love them, but I will continue to try. That is all I can do!
Oh, we ordered pizza for dinner on Friday because we were both tired and neither of us felt like cooking. It was delicious :) Pizza delivery and a movie with The Mr. was just what I needed. Well, that and sleep :)

Ugh! I had "neighbors" like that when I lived in a Duplex. They claimed I was too noisy one day, when all I had been doing was vacuuming. It's sad really, when people have nothing better to do that complain about such silliness! Oh well. ;-)
